Judging by the thunderous applause and standing ovations from several people, the star of the show was young Hungarian pianist Adam Gyorgy. Fingers flying across the keys at breakneck speeds, he played a couple Frank Liszt compositions, one from Bach and his own take on the classic Wedding March.

Celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Franz Liszt with Hungary's Adam György

Likened by many critics to Liszt for the virtuosity of his performances, his charm, the physical structure of his hands, and his tremendous interpretive sensibility - Adam György is one of today's "rising stars" [CNN world report] in classical music performance.

As with Franz Liszt, Adam György was a child prodigy who began playing the piano at the age of four. In 2004, he swept the First, Grand and Special prizes at The First International Chopin Piano Competition in Budapest. In 2005, he was invited to join the Steinway Artist community, a single honor that places him in the company of many of the greatest pianists of all time, including Vladimir Horowitz, Artur Rubinstein and Krystian Zimmerman.

A motto of Franz Liszt was "Genius comes with obligations". Adam has already come to realize that his gift can be used to help others. Most recently, Adam has donated proceeds from his concerts to support Hungarian music education. "Art helps education in so many ways, not only by training the brain, but also by attracting donors whose money can be put to good use in the right places. There are no boundaries in music" states Adam. In August 2009 Adam inaugurated the Adam György Castle Academy in Pomaz, Hungary The academy is a comprehensive music festival with open lessons by a wide variety of teachers in a magnificent setting. György plans his concerts to enhance the audience's enjoyment and understanding of the music. "Music is a language that can communicate our thoughts and emotions better than any other means. It doesn't matter if it is classical, jazz, pop or rock; it is simply music, with a message to deliver and with emotions to explain" says György.

From prodigy to cultural ambassador, Adam György enchants audiences everywhere he performs. His virtuosity and his sensitive interpretations have won him critical acclaim and built him a fan base worldwide. Adam communicates through his music with the understanding that the audience, the listener, is an active participant in bringing the music to life.
